X-HuLog4.0 Project Strengthens International Collaboration at ICIL 2025

The X-HuLog4.0 project (Human-Centered Logistics 4.0) was actively represented at the International Conference on Industrial Logistics (ICIL 2025) held in Tokyo, Japan, from October 30 to November 2, 2025. The conference brought together leading experts in industrial logistics, digital transformation, and sustainable supply chains.

Prof. Dr. Aurelija Burinskienė, the coordinator of X-HuLog4.0, presented the project’s research outcomes in her talk titled “Strategic Decision Making for the Implementation of Collaborative Mobile Robots for Warehouse Automatisation: Presentation of a Methodology.” The presentation introduced a structured decision-making framework for implementing collaborative mobile robots (CMRs) in warehouse environments—an approach developed within X-HuLog4.0 to promote safer, more efficient, and human-centered automation in logistics operations.

Beyond her presentation, Prof. Burinskienė held strategic meetings with Ritsumeikan University representatives to explore opportunities for co-authored scientific papers and future joint project applications. She also discussed with partners from the Universities of Zagreb, Vaasa, and Maribor the organization of doctoral visits and participation in the X-HuLog4.0 Doctoral School 2026, which will serve as a platform for young researchers to exchange knowledge on human-centered logistics solutions.

Dr. Arūnas Burinskas presented his research on “Dynamic Relationships between Productivity, Growth, and ROI in Estonia’s Logistics Sector: A Panel Data Analysis,” contributing to the broader discussion on logistics performance and efficiency. He also used the opportunity to showcase X-HuLog4.0’s research progress and exchange ideas with international participants on future cooperation in logistics innovation.

The presence of X-HuLog4.0 at ICIL 2025 reinforced the project’s commitment to fostering international dialogue and collaboration around Industry 5.0, sustainable logistics, and human–technology interaction.
Through active engagement in conferences and global partnerships, X-HuLog4.0 continues to advance its mission of shaping the next generation of intelligent, collaborative, and human-focused logistics systems.
