X-HuLog4.0 Project Session Held at the International Anniversary Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2025”
16/05/2025
On May 15–16, 2025, the Faculty of Business Management at VILNIUS TECH hosted the anniversary edition of the international scientific conference Business and Management 2025. This distinguished event brought together researchers, academics, and professionals to explore pressing topics in business, management, and advanced technologies.
A dedicated session titled “Advanced Technologies and Human-Centered Logistics” was held within the conference framework, representing the X-HuLog4.0 project. Chaired by the project leader Prof. Dr. Aurelija Burinskienė, the session included several key activities: six scientific presentations, a hands-on workshop on systematic literature reviews, and a special Researchers’ Afternoon, featuring industry video showcases from partner companies. These elements reflected both the academic and applied dimensions of the project.
A special highlight of the session was the Workshop on “Systematic Literature Reviews in Production and Logistics Management”, delivered by X-HuLog4.0 project partners Prof. Dr. Christoph Glock, Prof. Dr. Fabio Sgarbossa, and Jun.-Prof. Dr. Eric Grosse. The workshop focused on methodologies for conducting high-quality systematic literature reviews, particularly in the fields of production and logistics. It provided targeted training for doctoral students and researchers, including Diana Daškevič and Amir Zare, and served as a platform for sharing expertise, best practices, and critical evaluation techniques. The training is planned to continue in future sessions as part of the project’s knowledge-building strategy.
The session also featured six research presentations by X-HuLog4.0 team members, addressing key challenges and innovations in logistics and management. Topics included the use of digital twin technologies and large language models in employee training, environmentally friendly technologies for competitiveness, decision-making frameworks in digital logistics, the influence of national culture and sustainability on multinational enterprise management, the use of AI in academic research, and the impact of the twin transition on SMEs in rural regions. All presentations closely aligned with the project’s core objectives and research areas.
To bridge academia and industry, the session concluded with a Researchers’ Afternoon, where two industry partners presented real-world applications through video case studies. ACITOOL introduced their Smart Gate Solution and ACI Automated Inspections, highlighting innovations in warehouse entry/exit operations aimed at reducing manpower and improving efficiency. JUNGHEINRICH showcased their automation technologies, including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), and Automatic Truck Solutions, with a detailed case study from Prodrive Technologies, demonstrating how intelligent systems can transform logistics performance.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the session — Aurelija Burinskienė, Valentas Gruzauskas, Gintarė Byčenkaitė, Diana Daškevič, Edita Leonavičienė, Jolanta Nalivaike, Christoph Glock, Fabio Sgarbossa, Eric Grosse, Amir Zare, as well as the companies ACITOOL and JUNGHEINRICH — for their valuable contributions, insights, and active participation.
We are also pleased to share some moments from the event to reflect the vibrant atmosphere of academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
